Overview

Indonesia is an archipelago country with the world’s second-longest coastline and a complex seabed that is supported by a transoceanic circulation system. Human needs and activities will increase the use of environmental space and marine resources in the future. The Oceanography Group at the Research Center for Marine Science and Fisheries studies the dynamics of marine and coastal environments in the Andaman Sea and Indonesia Archipelago. We investigate ocean dynamics and sea use based on ocean modeling, remote sensing, and observations.

The focus of our research including:

  • Physical Oceanography
  • Marine Geology and Geophysics
  • Chemical Oceanography
  • Marine Geochemistry
  • Marine Pollution
  • Ocean Modelling
  • Ocean Renewable Energy
  • Mapping and Remote Sensing
  • Disaster Science in Coastal Areas
  • Coastal Dynamics

Projects:

  • Strengthening the Research Center for Marine and Fisheries Sciences (PRKP) as a Center for Study of Tuna Resources and Post-Capture Handling in Efforts to Improve Post-Capture Quality at PT. Yakin Pacific Tuna
  • Coral reef nursery center using Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • sea level rise estimation and the impact of coastal floods
  • Investigation of the Vulnerability of Coastal Areas Based on Multi-Criteria Analysis on Weh Island
