Overview
Indonesian waters have more than 120 endemic species and thousands of native species that inhabit freshwater, estuarine, and marine ecosystems. High exploitation, environmental degradation and climate change have impacted in major threats to these species. The Conservation of Endemic and Native Species Research Group at the Research Center for Marine Science and Fisheries focuses on research and development efforts to conserve endemic and native species in Indonesia, especially in Aceh waters.
The focus of our research including:
- Fisheries biology
- Fish population dynamics
- Fish stock assessment
- Species conservation
- Sustainable fisheries
- Climate change impact to fisheries
Projects:
- Genetic diversity related to climate variation and vulnerability of endemic and native fish in Peusangan Watershed, Central Aceh
- Stock evaluation of endemic, native and introduced fish in Lake Laut Tawar, Central Aceh
- Spawning potential ratio based on data-limited fisheries on Epinephelus fasciatus and Variola albimarginata in North Aceh waters
- Analyzing the economic aspect of grouper and snapper fisheries based on the data-limited fisheries to support small scale fisheries management in Aceh Besar coastal waters
- Fish stock assessment of two economically grouper species in Simeulue Islands
- Stock assessment of black tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon in eastern Aceh coastal waters
- Bio-reproduction and geometric morphometric analysis of grouper fish (family Epinephelidae) as a basis of species conservation in Aceh Waters
- Spatial bioeconomy of small-scale demersal fisheries in the marine protected area of Bintan, Riau Islands
- Population dynamics of Longtail Tuna (Thunnus tonggol) exploited in the north coast of Sumatera: biological parameters estimate
- DNA Barcoding of Lamp Shells (Brachiopoda: Lingulidae) in Aceh Northern Shore (penelitian, sumber dana PNBP 2021)
- Biodiversity of Lamp Shell (Brachiopoda: Lingulidae) in Aceh Northern Shore (penelitian sumber dana PNBP 2022)
