Research Center for Marine Sciences and Fisheries or Pusat Riset Ilmu Kelautan dan Perikanan (PRKP) is to conduct excellent research and community services, to initiate research collaboration with other institutions at the local, national and international level, enhance opportunities for the local researcher to develop their research carrier, to communicate marine sciences and fisheries to the global society thought the publication either in the international and or national journal, to apply the research finding trough acquisition of intellectual properties right towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The PRKP logo represents both the dynamics of the ocean and its resources and the scientific achievement done by the Universitas Syiah Kuala. 

The design represented three basic elements in a circle locked by the Universitas Syiah Kuala logo, inside it: PRKP (abbreviation of the research center in blue color, enhance the color of the ocean); Three waves pattern (represent the dynamic environment of the ocean as well as replicates the research center mission); Full name of the research center and university (to broadcast the global outreach).
